The 3-Park Sampler: Lake Louise, Emerald Lake & Marble Canyon - Winter

7 hours

Criss-cross the Continental Divide to experience three iconic national parks in one seamless journey. Explore the magic of Lake Louise and Emerald Lake during the winter, alongside the dramatic, deep limestone chasms of Marble Canyon.

Overview

Discover the stunning landscapes of Alberta and British Columbia on this private tour, visiting some of the most iconic natural wonders in the national parks of Banff, Yoho and Kootenay. This full-day itinerary includes a series of short lakeshore and canyon walks. An ideal option for those who want to maximise range and variety with a taste of two different provinces and three different parks in one single day.

Experience Highlights

  • Emerald Lake & Natural Bridge (Yoho, BC): We'll walk along part of the lakeshore trail at British Columbia's Emerald Lake – the "Jewel of Yoho" – before a stop at the Natural Bridge to witness the Kicking Horse River carving through solid limestone.
  • Lake Louise (Banff, AB): Experience the range's most famous alpine basin. We’ll guide you beyond the busy central shoreline to quieter vantage points offering uninterrupted views of the Victoria Glacier, Mount Fairview, and historic Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.
  • Marble Canyon (Kootenay, BC): Walk the 1.8km in-and-out trail along the waters of the Vermilion River and Tokumm Creek, peering down into deep limestone chasms from a series of dramatic canyon footbridges. One of Kootenay National Park's best spots.
  • Bow Valley Parkway Drive: We'll take the Bow Valley Parkway for part of the day's driving between Banff and Lake Louise. A quieter and more relaxed alternative to the Trans-Canada Highway, this scenic route offers a different perspective of the valley and more frequent wildlife sightings. (Subject to seasonal conservation/cycling closures).
  • Private, Door-to-Door Transport: Carefully cleaned after every journey, our van comes equipped with remote-start climate control, charging ports, snacks, water refills, and four-season comforts.
  • Picnic Lunch Included: Refuel with a locally-sourced grazing spread of premium charcuterie, cheeses, and seasonal accompaniments at a carefully scouted picnic spot, or from the warm comfort of the van (depending on the weather). Please check our FAQ for additional, important details.

        What to Bring

          Clothing & Footwear:

          • Footwear: Insulated hiking boots are essential (waterproof strongly recommended).
          • Layers: Clothing fit for an active day, including versatile layers. The weather in the Canadian Rockies is famously variable; being able to "layer up or down" is key to staying comfortable. A wind and rain-resistant outer layer is recommended year-round.
          • Winter Essentials: Insulated gloves, thick wool socks, a warm toque/beanie, moisture-wicking wool or synthetic base layers (upper and lower body; avoid cotton ), and additional warm layers (including a warm, weatherproof outer layer for wind/snow/rain protection).
          • Spare base layer: Bring an extra base layer to change into for the return journey. It’s a simple way to stay fresh and comfortable after an active day (especially when it's warm).
          • Pro Tip: Avoid Cotton. Cotton traps moisture and loses all insulating properties when damp, which can lead to rapid chilling. For your comfort and safety, we recommend moisture-wicking base layers made of merino wool or synthetic active-wear.

          Hydration, Food & Personal Gear:

          • Backpack: Please bring a small daypack to store your layers, water, and gear. This ensures you're prepared for changing conditions while keeping your hands free to use poles while we're hiking/walking.
          • Water: Plenty of water for an active day. We provide refills in the van - please bring your own reusable bottle(s).
          • Lunch and Snacks: We provide lunch (see FAQ for details), and a selection of light snacks is available in the van. However, we always recommend bringing along any personal favourites (like a specific energy bar or fruit) to keep your energy up throughout the day.
          • Sun Protection: Sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen (even in winter).
          • For Photos & Devices: A fully-charged camera or smartphone, and a USB-A charging cable if available (USB-A charging ports are available in the van).
          • Specialized Gear: We provide hiking poles and microspikes/ice cleats/snowshoes - no need to bring your own unless you prefer them.
