Designed as the quintessential introduction to the Canadian Rockies, this itinerary trades our usual emphasis on hiking for a curated selection of the region's most legendary landmarks and some afternoon free time to explore Banff town. From alpine lakes to the charming streets of Banff, this is a sightseeing-focused journey where the views are grand and the walking is gentle.


What to Expect - Itinerary & Experience:


Stop 1: Lake Louise

  • The Activity: A visit to the most iconic basin in the range. We’ll move along the flat lakeshore trail to reach the quieter vantage points of the lake and surrounding peaks, offering a better perspective of the Victoria Glacier and castle-like Fairmont Chateau.
  • Duration: 45–60 mins.

Stop 2: Marble Canyon

  • The Activity: We cross the Continental Divide into British Columbia for a change of pace on the way back to Banff town. This short, weaving trail features canyon-straddling footbridges where you can peer through limestone slot-canyon walls to the rushing turquoise waterfalls below. A rugged, high-impact stop that adds a second province – and a second National Park – to your day.
  • Duration: 30–45 mins.

Stop 3: Banff Town

  • The Activity: Enjoy a 'free time' stop in the heart of Banff town. We drop you off centrally, allowing you to explore local boutiques, artisan galleries, or the scenic Bow River pathways at your own pace. A great opportunity to grab a mountain-town souvenir or a local treat before our next stop.
  • Duration: 90 mins.

Stop 4: Lake Minnewanka

  • The Activity: At Lake Minnewanka, we walk along the wind-swept shoreline of Banff’s largest glacial lake before passing by Two Jack Lake to complete the Minnewanka Scenic Drive before heading back to Calgary.
  • Duration: 45–60 mins.

        • Pets: Service animals are welcome. Pets considered case-by-case and are subject to approval and an additional pet fee.
        What to Bring

          Clothing & Footwear:

          • Shoes: Comfortable hiking boots (strongly recommended, especially in winter) or trail-appropriate walking shoes. Waterproof footwear is recommended.
          • Layers: Clothing fit for an active day, including adaptable layers. Weather in the Rockies is famously variable; being able to "layer up or down" is key to staying comfortable.
          • Pro Tip: Avoid Cotton. Cotton traps moisture and loses all insulating properties when damp, which can lead to rapid chilling. For your comfort and safety, we recommend moisture-wicking base layers made of merino wool or synthetic active-wear.

          Hydration, Food & Personal Gear:

          • Backpack: Please bring a small daypack to store your layers, water, and gear. This ensures you're prepared for changing conditions while keeping your hands free to use poles while we're hiking/walking.
          • Water: Plenty of water for an active day. We provide refills in the van - please bring your own reusable bottle(s).
          • Lunch and Snacks: We provide lunch (see FAQ for details), and a selection of light snacks is available in the van. However, we always recommend bringing along any personal favourites (like a specific energy bar or fruit) to keep your energy up throughout the day.
          • Sun Protection: Sunglasses, hat, and sunscreen (even in winter).
          • For Photos & Devices: A fully-charged camera or smartphone, and a USB-A charging cable if available (USB-A charging ports are available in the van).
          • Specialized Gear: We provide hiking poles and microspikes/ice cleats (if needed for winter conditions) - no need to bring your own unless you prefer them.

          If Winter Conditions:

          • The Essentials: Insulated gloves, thick wool socks, a warm toque/beanie, moisture-wicking wool or synthetic base layers (upper and lower body; avoid cotton ), and additional warm layers (including a warm, weatherproof outer layer for wind/snow/rain protection).
          • Footwear: Insulated, waterproof hiking boots are strongly recommended.
